Job Title:  Business Analyst (W2 only Contractor)

Location:  Newark, NJ

Compensation:  $32/hr - $40/hr

Duration: 1 year

**Must be legally able to work in the United States

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Provide analytical functions for monintoring of energy asset trading activities, including : a) bidding electricity generating resources for Independent System Operator (ISO) markets; and b) fulfilling contractual obligations under wholesale energy asset management contracts

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Monitor for rule compliance on the bidding of generating assets into ISO energy, ancillary services, and capacity markets, as well as the bidding of other ISO transactions (e.g. load, transmission, FTRs, etc.)

2. Monitor for contract performance on activities for asset management contracts

3. Prepare and report on daily/monthly analyses of performance to benchmarks and key performance indicators to be used in management review meetings

4. Develop and maintain Excel models used for daily/monthly reporting and supporting procedural documentation

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor degree in engineering, finance, economics or other quantitative discipline

2. Have highly advanced Excel skills

3. Strong analytical skills specific to financial metrics / key business drivers

4. Ability to delve into details and ensure accuracy and high quality of work

5. Ability to work well with other groups while maintaining independence of judgment and reporting

6. Strong attention to detail and sense of ownership

7. Ability to interface with people at a wide range of levels including energy traders, bidding analysts and senior level management

8. Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple duties

9. Able to work and problem solve independently, to organize workload and priorities, and complete tasks on time

10. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills required

11. High level of maturity and respect for confidentiality

12. Ability to handle and manage large data sets

13. Enthusiastic self-starter with an ambition to grow through the role

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience with power generation technology and cost management, including: associated performance metrics (capacity, heat rates, performance factors, emission rates)

2. Experience with wholesale fuel (gas, oil) and emission allowance markets, preferably including markets relevant to NJ, PA, NY and New England

3. Experience monitoring operating compliance to complex sets of rules, including tracking new rule development, interpreting rules, and assessing compliance of complex operations to these rules

4. Experience with monitoring financial commodity hedging and energy portfolio risk management

5. Experience in documenting reporting requirements and designing new business reports
